I was grateful for the break in traveling...whew, they do A
LOT of traveling here to get anywhere! But again, on a Saturday I ended up with
those crazy ladies but this time...aieee! It was myself, Pat, Chris, Pat's
daughter Sarah, their dog Molly, their Miniature stallion Rocky and two goats,
all CRAMMED into Pat's mini (get it...MINI) van!
We took a 2 1/2 hour drive to Harshaw WI for a Halloween Miniature Horse fun
show! We had a glorious day, 80 degrees and the sun shining! Wonderful! First we
stopped in a town called Rhinelander and when I saw why I wanted to go kicking
and screaming in the other direction! There was a big horrible black beast with
red glazed eyes, sharp pointy teeth, tusks and claws and sharp spines along his
back! They wanted my picture with this horrible nasty thing! Then I looked and
there was Sarah, sitting on his head! She had tamed the beast, this beast called
a Hodag! So I figured if Sarah would hold me I would be brave and get my picture
taken. Turns out the Hodag was really quite a friendly guy! He greets everyone
into his town and is really quite famous all over the northwoods! I also found
out that he is Wisconsin's Blarney Stone, get your picture taken kissing him and
you have good luck! It was hard to say goodbye but we had a horse and goats in
the van and needed to hit the road.
Cindy's fun show was a hit with people from all over coming to join in the
fun. There was a large pot luck lunch and miniature horses and kids and Grandmas
and Grandpas all over the place, all joining in the fun! Everyone won prizes and
had a really good time. These Wisconsinites know how to have fun!

Here I am at the 1964 New York World's Fair Wisconsin Dairy Pavillion in
Neilsville!
It now is a...ahem...cheese store!
And next to the funky old pavilion is Chatty Belle, the Worlds Largest
Talking Cow! Put a quarter in her and she will drone on and on about the merits
of dairy products! Note in these pictures, Chris gave me my own cheese hat so I
can be a Cheesehead too! Thanks Chris!!!
