Arkansas

Next they took me to the Arkansas River. The river was huge and the water was very cold. I stepped in to it to get a drink and my hostess got very scared. She said the river was dangerous and I should be careful. She turned the heat way up in the car cuz I had gotten so cold and so had she.

They showed me a huge rock that they told me was the geographical center of of Arkansas. It was only a couple of miles away from where they live and my hostess said she had ridden her horse there a long time ago.

One night when my hostess was gone my host took me to where he works to introduce me to the people there. They have lots of trucks there. In fact papers were signed so I could have my own truck., but my owner found out I couldn't have it yet coz I'm only 7 years old. I wonder what that is in people years?

People in Arkansas are tree crazy! They even have one in the living room.

Another day the hostess started bringing in lots of what she called "snack food" and said we were going to watch the Cotton Bowl. I didn't know why anyone would want to watch a bowl of cotton, but she got real crazy watching that TV. She kept calling for hogs and yelling.....

"Whoo Pig Sooie Razorbacks!"

My host is from Texas and said she just does that during football season. Aparently it is a disease alot of people from Arkansas get. She got really sad later and said her team lost the game. But she said there was always next year.
