Back home in Texas __________________________ 06/24/02
I arrived back home in Texas. Only it wasn't home like I remembered. While I was away Mom and Dad moved out of the
big city and into the country. I couldn't
believe the new place! It's
on five acres and the closest neighbors are way far away.
I met my old feline friends, Atilla, The Wee One, Bear, Bear-Bear and
Sister. As well as a new friend, Cid whom mom said "came with the house". They sniffed me all over like they could
tell where I had been from how I smelled. It sure did tickle!
I was thrilled to see all of my old shelf mates. Mom had fixed up a room
just for us. I was a little worried about meeting some of them though.
Especially Lonesome Glory. I remembered how he would pick on me. But I didn't need to worry. Everyone was so happy that I
was home. Mom had been telling them about my travels and they were eager to hear
more. We stayed up all night as I told them about all the things I had seen and
the places I had been. We flipped through my journey log and I showed off the
souvenirs I had collected. Even Lonesome Glory was nice. While catching up with
news from home I met a new mare who had arrived after I left. Her name was
Shalamar but mom changed it to Allalay. She was very, very pretty and I made
sure to give her a New York kiss on the cheek in greeting. (Hmmm some customs do
have their place.) I stayed around the house for several days just lounging and
telling stories. I really did miss everyone.
A few days later mom took me back to work with her. She said there were a
couple places I would be going to real quick. She assured me that I wouldn't be gone for long. She said she had a
surprise for me when I came back. She gave me a big hug and told me how much she
worries about me while I’m away. ( Mothers! Always worrying.) ________________________
